Would You Like to Serve as a National Issues Forums Institute (NIFI) Professor?

The Bernard Osher Foundation has provided a $1 million endowment to 119 colleges and universities across the nation to establish Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes (OLLI). These institutes are housed in the Continuing Education departments of the schools and offer noncredit courses for senior citizens. The National Issues Forums Institute (NIFI) has been offering a course entitled Learning from Others: The Power of Public Deliberation through the OLLI program at the University of Dayton.

"Negotiating Climate Change: Paris 2015" - Helping People Talk about Climate Change, from the Choices Program, Brown University

Now available from the Choices Program's (Brown University) Teaching with the News series is Negotiating Climate Change: Paris 2015, a free set of resources to help people learn and talk about climate change. The resources include videos, articles, downloadable handouts, an "Identifying Key Issues" worksheet, and supplementary information. The materials are designed for use with students but could be helpful for anyone who is interested in this public problem.

Apply Now for a Taylor L. Willingham Legacy Fund Award

Applications are now being accepted (deadline is December 31, 2015) from individuals who are interested in being considered to receive a Taylor L. Willingham Legacy Fund grant. Grants are provided to individuals to enable them to develop an understanding of deliberative democracy and launch one or more deliberative dialogues in their communities and organizations in order to advance NIFI's overall mission, which is to promote public deliberation about national issues.
