Common Ground for Action (CGA) was originally developed by the Charles F. Kettering Foundation and the National Issues Forums Institute (NIFI), two non-partisan, non-profit organizations that work on strengthening democracy. Kettering and NIFI are long-time partners -- Kettering conducts research on democracy in the U.S. and other countries, and NIFI works with local partners to host in-person forums in communities and on campuses nationwide.

This issue guide was prepared by NASPA (historically, National Association of Student Personnel Administrators), Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, in collaboration with the Kettering Foundation, a nonprofit, nonpartisan, research institute that studies the public's role in democracy.

From Kara Dillard - Many of you are already aware of and familiar with the National Issues Forums' (NIF) online deliberation platform Common Ground for Action (CGA).  We’re trying a few new things and reminding everyone of some upcoming CGA events to promote deliberation.

As part of the Hidden Common Ground initiative with the National Issues Forums (NIF) network, Public Agenda, USA TODAY and Ipsos released a new poll today showing that 53 percent of Americans are worried about being able to maintain their standard of living over the next few years.
