At this May 9, 2019 event National Issues Forums (NIF) moderators, analysts of forum outcomes, and members of the policy community talked about public deliberation; how that public thinking differs from the "public opinion" usually available to policymakers; and what public thinking has emerged to date from NIF forums on political division, among other issues.

Charles T. Moses, director of the Stillman Accelerated Management Program (STAMP), and John Doble, a Kettering Foundation associate since 1981 moderated the two-hour panel discussion which also featured a welcome and opening remarks by John Dedrick, executive vice president and chief operating officer at the Kettering Foundation, and closing remarks by David Mathews, president and chief executive officer of the Kettering Foundation.
