Living Room Conversations are a conversational bridge across issues that divide and separate us. They provide an easy structure for engaging in friendly yet meaningful conversation with those with whom we may not agree. We have a number of part time roles we need to fill. We are looking for summer interns who may ultimately transition into leaders on our team beyond the summer. All of these positions are remote, field positions. Our work environment is one that encourages team members to take initiative in developing projects and programs as needs and possibilities are identified.
Social media Facebook (posting, sharing, liking), Twitter (Posting, sharing, liking) Search for relevant content (i.e - Google search for Living Room Conversations mentioned articles, create quote images through Canva.com, ask our team about relevant things to share)
Translator of written materials from English to Spanish: We have over 70 conversation guides on a variety of topics. We are looking for someone who has a strong ability to translate our English documents in Spanish.
Conversation hosts/organizers: In person and remote (online): Organize (and participate) in conversations. Good interpersonal and communication skills as well as technical savvy desired for online conversations (using Zoom format). Must be willing to learn the Living Room Conversation hosting process. Conversation hosts needed especially for some weekend and evening time slots. Connections with networks of possible conversation participants is a plus, especially with underrepresented populations. Recruit and engage our online network (e.g. members of our Facebook groups) for conversations. Record and track participation. Update the website events calendar to announce and promote these events on both our website and with our Facebook groups. Create and/or support efforts to track conversation data (who participates, when, topic, feedback collection, etc.).
Host trainers: Support our online host training programming by learning and offering our host training to interested parties. Preference for availability to work some evenings and weekends. This positions requires prior completion of 3 or more Living Room Conversations hosting experiences. Record and track participation. Update the website events calendar to announce and promote these events on both our website and with our Facebook groups.
Communications and correspondence: respond to new inquiries coming into Living Room Conversations. Work with and improve upon existing template emails to send and track responses from interested parties. Improve upon or create and manage system tracking communication inflow and outflow. Refer inquiries to LRC staff as appropriate.
