League of Women Voters/Springfield Welcomes You!

You are enthusiastically invited to join the League of Women Voters/Springfield for a free National Issues Forums training in facilitating community dialogue on critical issues. This is an opportunity to build your skills as a group facilitator at a time when coming together to reason and talk about our common problems could not be more important.

Saturday, January 27, 2018

9-11 a.m. Springfield College, Blake Hall conference room

National Issues Forums (NIF) is a nonpartisan, nationwide network of locally sponsored public forums for the consideration of public policy issues. These forums, organized by a variety of organizations, groups, and individuals, offer citizens the opportunity to join together to deliberate, to make choices with others about ways to approach difficult issues and to work toward creating reasoned public judgment. Our trainer will be Rebecca Townsend, assistant professor of communication at the University of Hartford.

The League is offering NIF training as part of its initiative around police accountability. From this training will emerge a core group of leaders and recorders prepared to engage Springfield residents in discussions aimed at discovering a police accountability system that could work for the entire community. If you take the training, we will ask you to consider offering your skills for one of our forums in the works for early 2018.

Please feel free to share this invitation to your networks.  CLICK TO REGISTER
