A national conversation about The Changing World of Work was launched at the National Press Club on January 21, 2014. The Kettering Foundation, the National Issues Forums Institute (NIFI), and Augsburg College are working together to promote public forums on this topic during the coming year. Information gathered from the forums will be the basis for a national report.

A January 22, 2014 article by Casey Fabris in The Chronicle of Higher Education reported on the launch:

"By all accounts, the career paths of today's students will hardly resemble those of their parents. So what are colleges doing to help them prepare?

On Wednesday, the Kettering Foundation, the National Issues Forums Institute (NIFI), and Augsburg College gathered a group of leaders from higher education, business, government, and other fields here to begin what the organizations hope will be a national conversation on the question of how colleges should adapt to a working world changed by technology, globalization, and the aftermath of the recession..."

Organizations, groups, and individuals are invited to hold deliberative discussions throughout the coming year using the issue materials titled, The Changing World of Work: What Should We Ask of Higher Education? The issue guide and companion materials are available here.
